A variety of factors are expected to drive an expansion of indoor agriculture production.  Growing crops indoors within a controlled environment offers several advantages, including the ability to manufacture “weather” conditions that optimize crop production 24 hours a day, 365 days per year.  Crops prefer different conditions than people, and creating the right environment for them can be energy intensive.  The Lone Star Chapter of AEE invites you to join our November 2018 luncheon meeting to hear Drew Scatizzi with CenterPoint Energy provide an overview of controlled environment agriculture facilities and discuss their energy use characteristics and efficiency considerations.
