May 2017 Meeting Announcement:

Join us for an enlightening discussion about solar power by Cal Morton with Houston-based Texas Solar Outfitters. Cal’s presentation will touch on the evolution of solar photovoltaic technology, the economics for distributed solar in Texas and elsewhere, public policy, and application issues.

The Solar Industries Association, a trade association that promotes solar energy development and adoption, reported that 671 MW of solar power capacity was installed in Texas during 2016. This pushed the state-wide total in Texas to more than 1,200 MW.  Today, solar represents a small portion of the roughly 80,000 MW total power generation power capacity in Texas, but it appears to be gaining momentum.
